Comedian John Vlismas looks like the kind of guy you'd cross the street to avoid. But behind the tattoos and the foul mouth he's one of the smartest men you could meet.
He's not only studying for an MBA at Henley Business School, he also teaches on its executive courses. His latest venture is Upside - a programme designed to help companies make their factory or office a happier place to be. Not just because that makes the staff feel better, but because there's a serious impact on the bottom line.
John's change in direction was heavily influenced by the death of his father, leading him to rethink his own life and make some drastic shifts. It also inspired his final comedy, The End, and Vlismas has now announded the end of his public stand-up career.
In this podcast, we chat about death and changes, how 'inoffensive' comedy does offend him, and why companies need to find the Upside.
