Wow - I've learned some great new skills since I started contributing to Google Local Guides a couple of years ago! (You know them, those little reviews that pop up when you click on place in Google Maps.) Turns out there's much more to it than that though.
I've now learned how to write a "Connect Post" for the guiding community, and I wrote about the need to Keep It Real - ie don't write glowing reviews to bribe a restaurant owner into giving you free drinks! And I've learned how to post a list so other people can see places that I recommend in certain categories. Like touristy stuff in untourist Joburg. Now my brilliant friend Alan Roberts and cameraman Zane Titizane from FiveStar Media have helped me make my first ever video and upload it to Google. How cool is that!
You can see it here and hear why I enjoy being a Google Local Guide. Yep, I know, I have a lot of wrinkles, Tell you what, though - I've earned them!
